ISP-11 - Backup, Disaster Recovery, and Business Continuity Policy

BACKUP, DISASTER RECOVERY, AND BUSINESS CONTINUITY POLICY

 

Policy Objective

This policy is to ensure the adequate recovery from disaster and the continuity of operations during a disaster.

 

Scope

All persons who are responsible for the management of Parkland College information assets and all critical information assets at Parkland College.

 

Policy

Section 1 – Backups

  • Regular backups of all systems and data required for the primary operation of Parkland College shall be made.
  • Backups shall be tested on a regular basis.
  • Backups must be stored in a manner that facilitates recovery in the event of a disaster.
  • Backups must be protected in accordance with the data contained within them.

 

Section 2 – Disaster Recovery

  • A plan shall be developed for the timely recovery of Parkland College systems and data in the event of a disaster.
  • In the event of a disaster affecting Parkland College systems and data, the Disaster Recovery Plan must be activated and followed.
  • The Disaster Recovery Plan must be maintained and tested regularly.

 

Section 4 – Business Continuity

  • A plan or program shall be developed for the continuity in the performance of the primary mission of Parkland College in the case of a catastrophic or widely disruptive event.
  • The plan or program must ensure the continuity of operations and the ability for continued instruction, essential functions, and operations following a catastrophic or widely disruptive event.
  • The Business Continuity Plan or Program must be maintained and tested regularly.
